XSLT Extensions for JSON Processing

XSLT 3.0 contains basic facilities for transforming JSON as well XML. But looking at actual use cases, it’s clear that some things are a lot harder than they need to be. How could we extend make transformations easy XML transformations, using the same rule-based tree-walking paradigm? Some of these extensions already implemented in current Saxon releases, so starting get user feedback.
